Group Log
The group reconvened on Wednesday to combine more individual work and test the project. Zach and Conner refined the bluetooth code so that the data is now reliably passing information in both directions in real time. After successful tests, it was revealed that the valve is sending information to the thermostat too quickly and is overloading the MCU. The method to transmit to the thermostat is revisited and will be tested in the next group meeting. Bluetooth connection is successful, but currently unreliable. The MCU's struggle to initially connect, but form a very solid connection once connected. Further testing will be done to ensure quick and efficient bluetooth connection.
Unfortunately, a part on the logic controller was damaged so there were obstacles when testing. The rest of the board was tested and confirmed to work properly with the MCU. The temperature sensor was calibrated accurately using a thermometer to test from 120°F to 80°F. The flow sensor was integrated into the valve assembly and sends a pulse signal that will define the flow rate. After the temperature sensor was calibrated, a test program was loaded to an MCU to trigger the logic controller cooling function when the temperature reaches 90°F. Testing will follow to determine success after the logic controller is repaired.
The group discussed further plans for the project timeline, website updates, report structure, and user manual creation. The timeline was updated with greater detail and various changes were made to the project section of the website.
