Individual Log - Zach

With a project proposal selected, I began to familiarize myself with the Smart Water Faucet design concept. At the beginning of the week, no specific workload had been assigned to any one group member, so I decided to develop an understanding of the project as a whole. I created a number of questions and ideas to bring to the group meeting to supplement my understanding of the intended function, components, and interfaces and also provide some thought on what could be added to the design if desired or needed. After the meeting, I felt that I had a firm grasp on what our goal was, however, I needed to break it down further so I could visualize the entire system on a component level. Prem had already created a project scope and module table, so I used this template and did my best to break down the project as far as I could. With a tentative responsibilities table created, I shared this with the group so it could be vetted and adjusted as needed. With adjustments made, the table was uploaded to the website and project responsibilities were assigned.

With my assigned module being the thermostat, I started some initial research for component selection. By breaking down each responsibility listed within the thermostat module in a document, I began linking relevant information and components that could be used for the project. This includes: components, datasheets, pinout diagrams, a few how-to videos, and supporting documentation and articles.
